Formula and method
FCR = total feed consumed ÷ total live-weight gain.
Live-weight gain is final minus initial group weight. Lower FCR means less feed was used per unit of gain.
Worked example
Using 5,000 kg feed for 2,500 kg live-weight gain produces an FCR of 2.0.
